PROFESSIONAL BRANDING SESSION INFORMATION
What to Expect?
Personal brand photography is the quickest and most effective way to authentically show your brand story and portray your own unique personality to your audience. It’s what your clients fall in love with and what makes them become loyal customers, clients and fans. It’s important to show different parts of the business to their clients. Yes, it’s nice to see a smiling face in a headshot; but it’s also great to see the business owner in action! For a business who creates a product, clients will love to see the making process. If the business provides a service, it’s important to showcase how they interact with clients.
Your personal branding session is your time to shine! If you don’t love being in front of the lens, don’t worry -you’re totally normal! I’ll coach you through flattering poses and keep you moving. You’re going to do great; in fact, you may be surprised by how much fun you have at your session!
Once we agree it's a fit we'll schedule a date in our calendar for the shoot. Yay! You'll have some paperwork to sign & the session fee to pay.
We'll schedule a call so we can chat about your vision and business. I'll send you my branding intake form which will help you in nailing down your looks & stories, as well as how to prepare for the shoot.
Shoot day is always lots of fun and you'll be feeling and looking your absolute best. My gentle nature will make you feel very comfortable & at ease.
You can expect to receive your images within 5-10 days, fully edited and beautifully presented in an online gallery for you to download and start using immediately.
We both want to make sure your branding photography session is as productive as possible. A great way to do that is to create an inspiration board for your session ahead of time. Write down a list of scenarios in your business that you would like me to capture; things like a client consultation, working at your desk, meeting with staff and making phone calls. If you’re drawing a blank, go through a typical day in your business or look back at your calendar. How do you spend your time?
Create a board with inspiring colors, patterns, textures, or even subject matter that you’re attracted to using Pinterest or another type of visual tool such as google photos, . You can pin things outside of your area of expertise such as interiors, nature, art, or really anything that fits with your aesthetic.
Where to shoot?
The best place to hold the branding photography session for your business, brand or craft, is where you actually conduct your business! Your office space? Out & about? A studio? Selecting a location can make all the difference in the style of imagery captured. Referencing your pre-shoot prep & brand vision is key in this stage. If you have an office that is perfectly styled for your brand & filled with gorgeous light, use it. If you don’t have one fixed work space, reflect on the areas where you do business and consider if any of them would work for a branding session. Maybe you have a favorite coffee shop where you like to get work done, a park where you meet clients or a client home that you just finished renovating.
And don’t forget to utilize me as a resource! I can offer lots of insights into different locations and suggest new spots depending on the look you are going for. We can discuss the type of background you like and choose locations that perfectly complement your vision.
What to wear?
This is by far my favorite part of prepping for a brand photoshoot! It really comes down to making sure you’re choosing outfits and accessories that are cohesive to your brand. Don’t stress over trying to pull together an outfit with every color in your logo though!
For your branding photography session, you want to wear clothes that highlight you as a business owner and how you typically present yourself. You want to look polished and professional, of course, but you also want to look like you! Choose an outfit that your clients would normally see you in. If you never wear a blazer for client meetings, don’t wear one in your branding session.
If you’re still having a hard time, take a look at the colors used in your brand. Head to your website or look over your logo for inspiration. Use those colors to form the base of your outfits and choose complementary colors from there.
Still not sure what to wear? No worries! In our prep meeting before your session, you can walk me through the options and I can help you narrow it down. Together we’ll choose outfits that represent your business and make you feel confident in front of the camera. Be sure to let me know if you have a “good side.” While I think every side is my client’s good side, I also know that you are more likely to love the photos if you feel your best in them! I’ll even show you a few images on the back of the camera while shooting to ensure we’re on the same page & feeling great about the setup!
What to bring?
Props can help bring your branding photography session to life and really showcase what you and your business are all about. Before your session, brainstorm a list of items and tools you use in your everyday work. Choose no more than three of those items to include in your session – anymore and it becomes more about the props and less about you! If you use a tool that is unique to you and your business, be sure to include that. For example, if you’re a personal trainer, you may want to bring along resistance bands or kettlebells. If you’re a digital marketer, you can pack your laptop and favourite coffee mug as props. Please include any props like your musical instrument, computer, tablet, notebooks and pens, fresh flowers, products you sell, items you make, etc.
