DO YOU SHOOT TRADITIONAL OR CANDIDLY POSED PORTRAITS?

In a typical photo shoot we generally capture a wide range of images from genuinely candid to formally posed. You will always have a large variety of images to choose from. We will capture both the informal, intimate moments and well-composed arrangements of your family. Typically though, we try to avoid the forced, “sit still” images and prefer to allow people (mostly children) to be comfortable during the shoot, this may mean running, jumping and playing. We can best discuss the needs of your family during the free consultation and plan accordingly.

DO YOU OFFER TOUCH UPS OR CREATIVE EDITING, SUCH AS FILTERS?

In addition to color, saturation and contrast enhancements we do remove skin blemishes and things within the image that can be distracting. We do not, however, over manipulate images and we work hard to keep them true to life. That is, unless we are intentionally aiming for a processed look because you have requested that during the consultation.

HOW DO YOU POSE CHILDREN DURING PHOTO SESSIONS?

We usually don’t do too much posing when it comes to children. We find it best to tell them where or how to sit or stand for a photo and then we just let them do their own thing and capture the candid moments. We find that telling children exactly what to do will result in more forced images than allowing them to get comfortable in front of the camera. We also have a lot of success when we can incorporate an activity or game in to the photo shoot to keep kids engaged.

I DON'T PHOTOGRAPH/POSE WELL, CAN YOU HELP ME?

Yes, of course! I understand that you might not have experience being photographed and I'm here to help.  Through my easy shooing style and natural posing, I make sure that you look natural and lovely in your photos.  Some people take a little longer to warm up, and in those cases I make sure that you feel comfortable and relaxed while we are shooting. I promise, I make it painless and fun, and it won't be nearly as bad as you think!

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

Try to coordinate clothing as much as possible, avoid busy-looking prints and clothing logos that will distract your eyes in photos. Solid colors like khakis, black skirts, blue jeans and shirts of similar, solid colors photograph well together. Avoid white shirts if possible, if it’s sunny outside, solid white shirts can become very “contrasty” in sunlight making it harder to meter for properly exposed faces.

CAN WE BRING OUR PET?

ABSOLUTELY! We LOVE pets and since they are a part of your life, they should be in your photos! Just remember to keep your pet on a leash during your shoot and remember to bring something with you to clean up after them. Feel free to bring treats with you too, they tend to cooperate much more when they have an enticing reward in front of them.

SHOULD WE BRING OUR OWN PROPS?

YES! Anything that you’d like to use in your photos that defines your style, personality, etc. is a great way to make your photo shoot more personalized. For children, that may mean their favorite blankets, toys, stuffed animals, etc.  For maternity shoots, you could bring baby-related items that you received at your baby shower. For boudoir photos, you could use feather boas, sexy shoes, or anything that makes you feel more confident in front of the camera.

I REMEMBER A SPECIFIC PHOTO BEING TAKEN DURING THE SHOOT, WHY DON’T I SEE IT IN THE GALLERY?

You will see a selection of the best images in your gallery. If an image is blurry from movement or caught someone blinking, etc. we will not select it for you to view. You can trust our experience and knowledge to pick the strongest images from your session.
